As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for all application aspects for power electronic devices: NPD, RTS, VAVE and Quality. This role is responsible for integrating variable speed drives into Trane Commercial HVAC equipment. Some of the additional responsibilities include device selection recommendations, define device application specification, component level qualification of devices, system level qualification of devices, tuning of drive/motor pairings, parameter settings and troubleshooting factory and field issues. Apply variable speed drives to HVAC equipment, especially compressors and fans. Interface unit level controls and safety features to the drive. Analyze motor-drive compatibility and tune the electrical system for optimal performance. Write specifications for electrical components in the motor-drive system. Conduct qualification testing of the motor-drive system. Provide lifecycle support of the product, including field and factory problem resolution. Some overnight travel required, approximately 5-10%. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is required. Basic knowledge of electrical circuits. HVAC equipment /system knowledge a plus. Systems integration / engineering knowledge a plus.
