Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift | 12-Hour Nights | Every Other Weekend and Major Holiday Required | On-Call Up to 24 Hours Per 6-Week Period
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate nursing interventions for obstetrical patients across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecological settings
Circulate and assist with cesarean sections; scrub and assist in vaginal and operative deliveries as needed
Administer medications including magnesium sulfate safely and in accordance with applicable standards of practice and organizational policies
Perform continuous electronic fetal monitoring, conduct vaginal exams, and provide resuscitation and stabilization of the mother/fetal dyad
Provide patient and family education including breastfeeding support, self-care, newborn care, discharge planning, and follow-up instruction
May be required to float within the New Life Center or to other Labor and Delivery units within the local market
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia or valid compact license
Minimum 1–2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience including antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum, and magnesium sulfate administration
Hospital-based clinical experience required
Ability to circulate cesarean sections required
BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
Proficiency with fetal heart monitoring, cardiac monitoring, warmers, and blood glucose monitoring equipment
Preferred Experience / Skills
Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience with C-EFM (Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification preferred
Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification preferred
Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record and Perinatal Centricity (QS) preferred
Ability to scrub and assist in deliveries preferred
