Post Surgical Care Unit Nurse

Floating between units/facilities: Travelers may be asked to float to different units or facilities within a 35-mile radius of their original assignment. Floating will be based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity. Travelers will always be notified before their scheduled shift if a float assignment is required.

We are looking for nurses to join our post surgical care unit. Teamwork is always supported and complimented on the floor from staff. We have great communication and relationships with our providers on the unit including surgical residents who help to cover most of our surgeons 24 hours a day.

Staffing Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test

Unit Description:

Unit Capacity: 32 Beds

Population Served: The most frequent diagnosis for 6 Kidd includes, but is not limited to: Bowel Obstruction, Wound Infection, Gastrointestinal Cancers, and Morbid Obesity.

6 Kidd provides post op surgical care to general surgery patients. 6 Kidd provides care regularly to overflow medical and surgical patients from throughout the hospital. Patients must be hemodynamically stable and not require mechanical ventilation.

Ages of Patients Served: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+)

Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6

Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid to include: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs). An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team.
