Position Summary

The General Engineer provides professional engineering support for planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of facilities, systems, or programs. This role ensures compliance with federal regulations, safety standards, and project requirements while supporting organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, design, and oversee engineering projects related to facilities, infrastructure, or systems

Review and evaluate engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents

Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and federal standards

Conduct site inspections, assessments, and quality assurance reviews

Provide technical guidance and recommendations to leadership and project teams

Manage project timelines, budgets, and contractor performance

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and stakeholders

Analyze data and prepare reports, cost estimates, and project documentation

Support procurement processes, including reviewing bids and contracts

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)

Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

Experience with project management and engineering analysis

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license

Experience working with federal agencies (e.g., VA, DoD)

Knowledge of federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, UFC, VA standards)

Experience with construction or facilities management projects

Work Environment

Combination of office and field work

May require site visits, inspections, and coordination with contractors

Occasional travel may be required

Additional Requirements (for Federal Contracts)

Must be a U.S. citizen (in many cases)

Ability to pass a background investigation or security clearance

Compliance with federal employment and contract requirements
