Must-Have: Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital
Description:
RN - MedSurg/Tele position available.
Facility has 637 licensed beds with a Level 1 Trauma Designation.
This is a teaching hospital and a designated Chest Pain and Stroke Center.
The unit has 30 beds with a typical census of 30 patients.
Patient types include post/pre cardiac patients and step-down ICU patients.
Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and Sepsis.
Patient ratios for RNs are 1:4-6 with 2-3 CNAs per shift.
CNA duties include assisting with vital signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, ambulating, and turning patients.
Unit secretary functions are available from 7a-11p, with a house-wide call secretary from 11p-7a.
Resource nurses and discharge nurses are part of the interdisciplinary team.
Telemetry monitoring is available 24/7 with centralized telemetry units.
Equipment used includes EMR systems, IV pumps, and monitors.
Key skills required include trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion, central line management, and wound care.
Additional responsibilities involve care coordination, discharge planning, patient education, and telemetry interpretation.
