Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring prior travel experience and NIHSS certification.

Details

Work on 3 South, a 19 private room medical-surgical unit

Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients

Serves medical and surgical patients including neurology and neurosurgical diagnoses

Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring

Patient ratio of 1:6

Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)

Epic charting system used

Requirements

Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration

BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Minimum 1 year of charge nurse experience required

Prior travel nursing experience required

Epic charting experience required

Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care

Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry

Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, oxygen administration, and suctioning

Experience with GI care including bowel obstruction and ostomy management preferred

Experience with neurological conditions such as CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury preferred

Experience with IV insulin protocols and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA

Additional Information

Provide medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care to a diverse patient population

Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergency situations

Not accepting candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties

Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted

Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler

No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

Travel pairs or groups are not accepted

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
