CNC Set-Up Machinist

In this role, you'll set up, operate, and inspect CNC machines, including Swiss, lathe, and milling machines, to produce precision components with close tolerances. You'll work from blueprints and technical specifications, select and align tooling, troubleshoot machining issues, and ensure finished parts meet quality and production standards. The ideal candidate has extensive CNC setup experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a job shop environment.

Available Schedules

• Weekend Shift: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
• 2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 p.m.–2:00 a.m.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC Swiss, lathe, and milling machines according to job requirements and production schedules.
Perform repeat machine setups independently and assist with more complex setups as needed.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and sample prototypes to determine dimensions and tolerances.
Select and align tooling, fixtures, and attachments for machining operations.
Monitor machine operation, identify variations in positioning or cycle time, and make necessary corrections.
Adjust machines to produce parts that meet quality requirements and specifications.
Troubleshoot routine machining issues independently and seek guidance on more complex problems as needed.
Run production and deburr parts as required.
Perform in-process inspections using appropriate measuring instruments.
Complete required production paperwork and keep materials and documentation organized.
Maintain a clean, orderly work area and properly care for shop tools, machines, and equipment.
Follow established safety procedures and comply with company quality standards.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least two years of technical training in machine tool technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of CNC machine setup and operating experience in a job shop environment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC Swiss, lathe, and/or milling machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and production standards.
