This is a full-time outpatient psychiatry role within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, providing direct psychiatric care to an underserved patient population in a structured, mission-driven environment. For psychiatrists who want purposeful clinical work outside of a traditional hospital or clinic setting, correctional medicine offers a practice model that is genuinely different from anything else in the field.

Direct outpatient psychiatric care to assigned patients within TDCJ facilities
Conduct psychiatric, physical, and neurological examinations
Clinical supervision of psychiatric mid-level practitioners as assigned
Emergency psychiatric call coverage is included as part of the role

Position located within a correctional facility in Conroe, Texas
Security clearance required before starting
Structured institutional environment with established clinical and reporting processes

Current Texas State Board of Medical Examiners license to practice medicine
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry
Current DEA-controlled substances registration certification
Pre-employment drug testing required
