Job Title: RN II - MST / MEDICAL TELEMETRY

Shift: 12H Nights eow, night shift, first to float
Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week
Candidates must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract.
Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year in Medical-Surgical nursing.
Experience in telemetry is preferred.
Candidates must be willing to care for both MST and PCU patients.

The unit features a total of 30 beds divided into three 10-bed units.
Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5-6.
Medical cases may include MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, and COVID.
Telemetry monitoring is necessary for patients with chest pain.
RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry strips.
RNs may be asked to precept nursing students.
Charge nurses manage a total of 50 inpatient beds, which include various levels of care units.
Nursing assistants are responsible for 10-15 patients.
If nursing assistants are unavailable, RNs may take up to 3 patients and provide primary care.
The unit cares for stable C-pap or Bi-pap patients.
Remote Monitor Techs are available for telemetry monitoring.
Shifts are 12 hours, starting either at 0700 or 1930.
Holidays are rotated fairly among staff.
Floating is required to multi-care and pediatric units as well as to other medical-surgical telemetry units.
Attendance at hospital and unit orientation is required based on experience.
Precepting of nursing students is an expected duty.
Charting uses the Cerner system.
The role is set in an acute care setting.
