As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you support this mission by applying a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of functional limitations, impairments and disorders. Every day, you can make a lasting difference in their lives, all while gaining extensive hands-on experience and finding your place within an innovative healthcare system.A caregiver in this role works a day/evening rotation from 8:30 a.m. – Implement patient treatment following evaluations by a Physical Therapist with a thorough understanding of the procedures and goals.Discuss possible changes in the treatment approach with the supervising therapist and assist in the preparation of a new program.Assume responsibility for the care, safety and well-being of patients during assigned acts and observe all necessary precautions and procedures in the use of equipment to prevent the delay of the healing process or to avoid injuring patients.Provide appropriate documentation for each patient visit in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.Maintain and care for all equipment and apparatus.Provide appropriate billing for each patient visit in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.Assist in training ancillary personnel.Associate's Degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy AssistingLicensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state of FloridaBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red CrossInternship experienceStrong understanding of various rehabilitation techniques and exercisesPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Prior experience as a physical therapy aidePrior rehabilitation experiencePhysical Requirements:Work is medium/frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel.Stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.This position requires reasoning, mathematical and English language skills. Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests.
