ICU Nurse - Methodist Hospital

Methodist Hospital has been providing high quality care to patients from San Antonio, and from around the world, for more than 50 years. The hospital opened in 1963 as the first hospital in the now internationally acclaimed South Texas Medical Center. Methodist Hospital offers a broad range of specialties including cardiology, cancer care, bone marrow transplants, emergency medicine, neurosciences, maternity care, gynecology and orthopedics.

We are looking for an experienced ICU nurse for our 2 South ICU (657) unit. This is a COVID ICU position with shift details of 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A. The unit has 14 beds with a patient ratio of 1:2. The type of equipment used is ECMO NxtSTG and the documentation system is Meditech. The scheduling requirements are 3 shifts per week and every other weekend. All candidates are required to float as needed.

Required skill set includes ACLS, BLS, NIH, and 2+ years of ICU experience. Comfort with vasoactive drips and a strong understanding of hemodynamics are also required. Preferred skills include ECMO CRRT (NxtStg) and Meditech experience. Active TX RN License is required.

Procedures performed on the unit include ECMO, CRRT, chest tube insertions, and central line insertions. The dress code requires navy scrub top and pant, navy or white scrub jacket. Nails should be clean and healthy, hair neat and clean with no extreme styles or colors. Beards, mustaches, and sideburns should be clean and neatly trimmed. Body art should be covered whenever possible. Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited.

This high acuity COVID ICU offers advanced interventions such as VV ECMO.
