The BTS accomplishes this by providing consultation, training, and professional resources to voluntary providers/programs to increase their capacity to safely and effectively serve people who have complex behavioral needs, connect them with vital community resources, and navigate system complexities that may have been impeding service provision. The work of the Senior Field Clinician, and the bureau under the Director's leadership, meets the core mission of OPWDD by addressing the 3 main priorities outlined in the Commissioner's strategic plan: 1) supporting people in the most person-centered ways, 2) strengthen the workforce, and 3) improve the service system across the state. The Senior Field Clinician will join a statewide team of clinicians to provide a full range of consultation services.The Senior Field Clinician will be responsible for their field team’s coordinated review and delivery of technical assistance using evidence-informed best practices, a trauma-informed and responsive approach, and commitment to cultural humility, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist and through duties including but not limited to:• Supporting voluntary providers/programs to prevent imminent crisis through provision of case consultation, professional mentorship, training, and program monitoring. • Assisting voluntary providers in their development of individualized and agency-wide strategies by synthesizing information from a variety of sources to identify a case conceptualization, root cause(s), and available resources in accordance with regulatory standards.• Conducting on-site observations and engagement as indicated and directed, to enable effective consultation. • Drafting consultation reports to include formal recommendations, referrals, and treatment alternatives. • Development and delivery of training on clinically relevant topics. • Providing administrative supervision to other field team specialists. • Travel as assigned to complete on-site observations, attend meetings, and to support bureau operations. Travel percentage is an estimated average of 60% or more; actual travel time may vary to support the needs of the bureau and division.• Other duties as assigned to support bureau and divisional operations. *Telecommuting to be discussed at time of interview. PEFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:This position requires direct experience supporting people with developmental disabilities who present with complex behaviors and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. The Senior Field Clinician will be expected to understand federal and state regulations and policies that guide delivery of services, to ensure recommendations offered to voluntary providers are not only consistent with clinical best practice standards but also inclusive of regulatory requirements. Experience conducting, developing, writing, and/or reviewing clinical assessments and treatment plans, expertise in progress monitoring and data analysis, knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention strategies, and familiarity with community-based service settings is preferred. LinkedIn: #LI-KT1 Minimum Qualifications : Minimum Qualifications for Psychologist 2:You must have a master's degree in psychology from a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education/United States Secretary of Education. The psychology degree program must have been one that prepared graduates for positions treating individuals in clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school settings. ANDFor Psychologist 2 - you must also have three years of supervised post master's degree experience in a clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school setting, where your primary duties were providing psychological services as described below.Substitutions:A doctoral degree in a clinical field of psychology and one year of qualifying experience may be substituted for both the education and experience requirements above.Clinical psychology practicum, externship, or fieldwork assignment, that was completed as part of a qualifying master of psychology degree program, may be substituted for one year of the required experience.Certificate of advanced study in a clinical field of psychology or school psychology may be substituted for one year of the required experience.Note: Examples of qualifying degree programs/majors include but are not limited to the following: clinical psychology, clinical forensic psychology, community psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, and child psychology.Note: Examples of non-qualifying degree programs/majors include but are not limited to the following: education, counseling, clinical counseling, clinical hypnosis, community counseling, educational counseling, forensic counseling, guidance counseling, human relations, marriage and family counseling, professional counseling, rehabilitative counseling, school counseling, student and personnel services, mental health counseling, psychological counseling, pastoral psychology, transpersonal psychology, neuroscience, experimental psychology, industrial psychology, and organizational psychology.*Note: Examples of qualifying experience is considered to be direct experience with individuals, families, or groups in a hospital, psychiatric hospital, psychiatric clinic, community mental health clinic, correctional facility, intermediate care facility, institutional or school setting, or community based residential and/or day program, under the supervision of a doctoral level psychologist, licensed psychologist, licensed physician, licensed psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, or licensed clinical social worker (or in the case of school psychologists with permanent certification from the New York State Education Department, working under the supervision of a school principal or similar administrator). developing behavior support plans or writing psychological treatment plans; and/or providing psychological counseling and treatment in one or more of the following areas: mental and/or emotional disorders, cognitive disorders, behavioral disorders, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, alcoholism, addictions, substance abuse disorders, sex offender assessment and treatment, or forensic mental health.Note: Examples of non-qualifying experience include but are not limited to, experience in experimental psychology, research psychology, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, health psychology, utilization review, guidance counseling, pastoral counseling, or as a habilitation specialist or instructor of psychology.A practicum, externship, or clinical fieldwork assignment is defined as a direct clinical experience providing psychological services in a hospital, psychiatric hospital, psychiatric clinic, community mental health clinic, correctional facility, intermediate care facility, institutional or school setting, or community based residential and/or day program; and must have been a component of a qualifying Master of Psychology degree program listed on the official transcript. Additional Comments : This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.Appointments may also be made at the Psychology Trainee levels. Candidates hired at the entry-level title (Psychology Trainee 1) may be advanced to the full-performance level (Psychologist 1) following satisfactory completion of two-years of service.
