Purchasing Buyer, Senior

Determines material requirements from Sales & Marketing, Demand Planning and the Production Schedule and coordinates the efficient movement of materials through production cycle, consignment programs and the Kan-ban/Pink-card system. Participates in and helps to lead Division-wide Strategic Sourcing efforts. This senior level non-management position reports to the Purchasing Manager.
Performs a variety of administrative duties related to the acquisition of materials, supplies, equipment, and services
Contacts appropriate suppliers to obtain price quotes, lead-time, methods of procurement, and quality data
Performs purchasing transactions requiring the usage of BAAN, Word, Excel, Access, and other computer tools
Investigates and analyzes new requirements generated by MRP, Kan-ban, or other planning methods
Attends and conducts a variety of meetings with staff, suppliers, and engineering to clarify specifications, material requirements, contractual agreements, and to resolve problems
Participates in business-wide and local Strategic Sourcing activities
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or in Business Adminstration, or equivalent; MBA desirable
