Advocacy Counsel

The annual base salary range for this position is a nationwide market range that reflects the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate.

The role involves handling litigation arising from claims against policyholders or the company, managing cases from inception through trial and appeal, and optimizing outcomes for Travelers’ insured customers.

Apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.

Conduct legal research and provide strong, persuasive legal writing and presentation.

Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and related documents.

Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on handling strategies.

Offer advice and training to claim partners and clients.

Travel as required to meet business needs.

3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.

Skilled at fostering collaborative relationships to deliver exceptional customer service.

Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.

Strong legal research skills and the ability to use technology.

Flexible, agile mindset and willingness to take on new challenges as needs evolve.

Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree; graduate of an accredited law school.

Active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) where representation is required.

Regular experience handling hearings, trials, dispositive motion arguments, depositions or other court proceedings and the ability to travel to those meetings; Health insurance for employees and eligible family members from day one.
