Job Description The Radiation Therapist is responsible for performing the accurate delivery of prescribed ionizing therapeutic radiation under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist, using a variety of complex techniques and equipment.

Responsibilities Interprets and implements prescription and treatment plan as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.

Educate patients on procedures, skincare, side effects, and nutrition.

Performs simulation procedures and prepares immobilization devices for various body parts.

Monitors patients’ clinical progress, withholds treatment if necessary, and refers patients to Radiation Oncologist or Executive Director for appropriate intervention.

Operation of the therapeutic equipment, proper patient positioning, monitoring of the patient during the procedure, and related clerical duties.

Evaluates and assesses treatment machine operations; Communicates clearly and concisely with all members of the health care team, patients, and families.

Meet and adhere to strict radiation safety guidelines, internal quality controls, organizational standards, department policies and procedures, and strategic goals.

Qualifications Graduated from an accredited Radiation Therapy School.

Minimum ofsix (6) months’ experience as a staff therapist preferred; however, willing to train recent graduates.

Key Competencies Excellent customer service skills.

Current knowledge of appropriate clinical practice, radiation protection, and quality assurance.

Proficient knowledge of medical terminology.

Proficient computer software and database skills.

Job Type: PRN

Pay Range: $50.00 - $56.00 per hour PRN, Various shifts and hours per week.
