Field Engineer Intern

Shimmick is actively seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer Intern for employment in our Northwest Division. Expected start is May or June 2026 with an end date in August or September pending the academic schedules.

Performing assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Exercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids.

Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used.

Assisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.

Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

Researching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests.

Creating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital).

Coordinating logistics and meetings for project managers.

Helping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports.

Assisting with community outreach duties as needed.

Attending neighborhood, community, and project meetings.

Undertaking tasks as may be assigned by project managers.

Having a clear understanding of the budget and assist in the creation of and adherence to project and development budgets.

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship.

Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.

Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).

Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.

The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on experience and/or education.

A Housing Stipend is available to those who qualify.
