A Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) Registered Nurse cares for patients who require extended observation, assessment, or short-term treatment. The goal is to make timely decisions about the need for inpatient admission or discharge.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate patients' conditions, administering treatments and monitoring progress.

Work with physicians to determine appropriate discharge or admission plans.

Educate patients on follow-up care or preventative measures.

Document patient findings accurately to facilitate care transitions.

Coordinate with multiple departments for diagnostic tests and consultations.

Work Environment:

Typically within hospital-based observation or short-stay units.
