Head of Engineering and Project Management

Kitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Project Manager II to join our Bay Area region in the City of San Francisco and build a long‑term career at one of the most innovative and growth‑oriented building companies in the United States.

Experience with Design‑Build Delivery method is strongly preferred. Project scope is a parking structure. The client is in the Community College Market Sector with other ongoing projects under DSA oversight.

Providing PM/CM Consultant Services as an Owner’s Representative over a ground‑up parking structure (Future project scope will be in the higher education market sector)

Ensures operations are executed in accordance with company project management procedures and policies

Manage the procurement phase and development of RFQs and RFPs

Oversight of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to project requirements

Coordinate, direct, and monitor activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities

Manage project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client

Identifies and manages risk on the project, and advises and confers with regional executive prior to implementing risk mitigation actions

Ensures workplace health and safety policies and procedures are clearly communicated and understood by direct reports and enforces rules fairly and uniformly

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline is preferred

10 or more years of experience as a Construction or Project Manager in the Construction industry is required

Experience with an Integrated Project Delivery method such as Design‑Build as well as traditional Design Bid‑Build method preferred

Provide leadership and financial management support to the project team is required

A Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential, a Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification, and/or a LEED Professional Accreditation is strongly preferred

Travel Requirements

Position is project site based in the City of San Francisco.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office, an office trailer, and/or in a construction jobsite environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters.
