HR Generalist - Employee Relations and Safety

As our Human Resources Generalist, you'll partner closely with our HR Director to help create a workplace where employees feel supported, engaged, and safe. This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who enjoys building relationships, being present on the manufacturing floor, championing workplace safety, and helping create an exceptional employee experience. This Human Resources Generalist role is based 100% on-site at our manufacturing facility in Southfield, Michigan, supporting our newly acquired IDP brand.

What would you do as our Human Resources Generalist?

Serve as a trusted resource to employees and managers by providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, employee relations matters, workplace investigations, accommodations, performance concerns, and other personnel issues.

Lead and support site safety initiatives, including safety committee activities, training, audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, and recordkeeping.

Support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and retention initiatives for hourly and salaried employees.

Coordinate workers' compensation claims and assist with return-to-work processes.

Support employee engagement, recognition, and development programs that enhance the employee experience.

Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and applicable safety regulations.

Maintain accurate employee records and HR data within HRIS and related systems.

Build strong relationships with employees through regular communication and a visible presence on the manufacturing floor.

Partner with the HR Director on special projects and other HR and safety initiatives that support the needs of the business.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Safety, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms; Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.

Professional HR certifications (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) are a plus.
