(Henry Ford Staffing is a system-wide, flexible staffing solution that supports clinical operations across Henry Ford Health by connecting skilled healthcare professionals to areas where they are needed most. While rooted in nursing, the department also provides staffing support for Surgical Technologists, Emergency Room Technicians, Medical Assistants, and Patient Care Technicians, making it a vital partner in delivering high-quality patient care across the system.

As part of our centralized float pool, team members have the unique opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings while gaining valuable, diverse experience. Staff are assigned to units based on their experience, competencies, and availability, ensuring confidence, safety, and success in every assignment.

Our team plays a critical role in maintaining consistent, high-quality care by supporting units during call-ins, leaves of absence, fluctuations in patient census, and vacation coverage. This dynamic model not only strengthens operations but also allows staff to expand their skills, explore different specialties, and build a well-rounded clinical background.

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse demonstrates advanced clinical competency in managing complex nursing situations across diverse patient populations. This role requires the ability to deliver comprehensive nursing interventions in varied clinical settings, with particular emphasis on proactive patient assessment and early identification of clinical changes. The successful candidate will synthesize patient data to anticipate care needs and implement evidence-based nursing interventions before significant changes in patient condition occur.
Deliver direct patient care across multiple medical and surgical units, adapting nursing practices to diverse patient populations and clinical scenarios
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and identify potential complications through clinical observation and analysis of patient-specific data
Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based nursing care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
Provide professional nursing services across a broad spectrum of clinical situations and patient acuity levels
Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and hospital personnel to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
Maintain flexibility and willingness to float to multiple facility locations to meet organizational staffing needs

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Two to three (2-3) years of recent clinical nursing experience in medical and surgical settings
Demonstrated ability to manage complex patient care across diverse clinical environments
Willingness and ability to float to multiple facility locations
Advanced clinical competency in patient assessment and care planning
Ability to synthesize patient data and anticipate care needs
Proficiency in developing and implementing evidence-based nursing interventions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Ability to adapt nursing practices to diverse patient populations and clinical scenarios
Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic healthcare settings
Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
Current TB screening and required vaccinations (including flu)
