Job Description
Title: Inpatient Postpartum RN
Schedule:

• Shift type: Days/Nights/Weekends
• Patient ratios: 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients)
• Weekend coverage: required

Assignment Details:

• Unit type: 40-bed inpatient postpartum; family-centered care for mother/infant (couplet care)
• Patient population: Postpartum adults and healthy/newborn neonates

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years postpartum experience
• Labor & Delivery (L&D) and IV start experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, IV certification, IV start skills
• Telemetry interpretation required; RN expected to pass an EKG exam prior to start

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients and their newborns
• Conduct assessments and monitor patient and newborn conditions
• Administer medications and IV therapies as needed
• Educate patients on breastfeeding and postpartum care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
• Manage and respond to postpartum complications

Compliance / Notes:

• Orientation: 36 hours
• Pre-approved time off: 2 shifts
• Fingerprinting required with strict deadlines
• Vaccination: Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Employment eligibility: current employees ineligible; former employees eligible after 6+ months away
