Security Professional - Full Time

BSG is currently seeking qualified Armed Security Officers for a prestigious private University in Oakland. Applicants with Law Enforcement, Military, or a Graduate of a US Based Law Enforcement Training Academy experience will be prioritized.

The role of the Armed Security Officer will be high visibility, deterrence, patrols, safety escorts, building checks, community engagement, and dispatch/gate support as needed. The Security team is cross trained to monitor all security, communications and fire/life safety systems, and is the liaison between campus personnel, students, law enforcement and BSG management. The team is directly responsible for the accurate documentation of routine and unusual events occurring on or near the facilities. The Armed Security Officers must maintain an expert level of knowledge of the campus rules and always provide professional interactions that promote safety and instill confidence to the faculty, staff, students and visitors to the property.
Shift: Full Time Grave Shift (Friday through Tuesday)
Hourly Rate: $36.00 per hour

Must be at least 18 years old.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus.
Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures while being open to performance improvement.
At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
This role requires specific physical abilities to ensure the Security Guard can effectively perform essential job duties. Ability to sit while driving a vehicle, stand or walk for long periods, often for several hours at a time, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces, without significant physical strain.
Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment, and assist with other duties as necessary.
Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols, including hot, cold, rainy, or windy weather.
Ability to handle and operate security equipment, such as radios, keys, and locks.
Capable of working long hours while remaining alert and focused throughout the shift. Strong vision and hearing to observe surroundings, monitor security systems, and detect alarms or sounds of distress.
Patrol and Surveillance:
Perform regular patrols of assigned areas, including multi-level buildings and outdoor spaces, while standing or walking for extended periods.
Use manual dexterity to operate security equipment such as radios, keys, and locks efficiently.
Equipment Handling:
Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds to assist with security tasks or emergencies.
Utilize strong vision and hearing abilities to monitor surroundings, identify potential security threats, and detect alarms or sounds of distress.
Maintain focus and remain alert throughout long shifts, ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
Keep accurate and detailed activity logs, documenting all patrols, incidents, and observations during the shift.
Adhere to legal standards, company policies, and client-specific protocols.
Maintain grooming and uniform standards consistently to project a polished and authoritative presence.
