About the Organization DRNY, the Protection and Advocacy System and the Client Assistance Program for NewYork State is seeking an individual with a passion for achieving justice for individuals with disabilities. With a focus on civil rights and disability justice, DRNY actively works to break down the systemic oppression of all people with disabilities. DRNY recognizes the intersecting legacies and effect of ableism, white supremacy, colonial capitalism, and gendered oppression on people with disabilities. Joining DRNY is an opportunity to challenge systemic abuse, neglect, discrimination, and rights violations through case-handling, individual and systemic litigation, public investigations, advocacy, and collaboration with stakeholders. Disability Rights NewYork (DRNY) is seeking a Marketing and Communications Intern with a strong interest in Graphic Design and all aspects of the Marketing Industry. The successful Intern will be provided the opportunity to utilize their skills and experiences to help improve the lives of people with disabilities. Interns will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Team, as well as Executive staff members, to craft DRNY’s statewide message.

This is an unpaid internship. Interns may be eligible for academic course credit with school approval. The internship can be full-time or part-time.

Update and improve consistency of current and outdated content;

Collaborate with internal departments on projects and assignments;

Write, proofread, and edit brochures, newsletters, and other documents;

Design accessible graphics to accompany Social Media posts that are consistent with DRNY’s voice and brand;

Experience in marketing and communications with a focus on Graphic Design, OR pursuing a degree in marketing and communications with a focus on Graphic Design;

Ability to multi‑task, manage multiple projects and balance competing priorities;

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign);

Excellent communication and organizational skills with an innate attention to detail;

Ability to work independently on projects and also collaborate as a strong team member.

Work is typically performed remotely, with the majority of time spent working on a computer.
