HR Generalist - Full-time Hourly position

HR Generalist – Construction Michigan City, IN | On-Site

We are working with a construction business in the Michigan City area that is looking to appoint an experienced HR Generalist to support employees, managers and leadership across a busy project-driven environment.
This is a hands-on HR role covering the full employee lifecycle, with responsibility across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, payroll support, compliance, performance management and day-to-day HR operations.
The HR Generalist will act as a key point of contact for employees and managers, working closely with leadership to support both operational and people-related needs across the business.

Supporting recruiting and hiring activities across field and office-based positions
Coordinating onboarding, new hire documentation and orientation
Providing guidance to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures
Supporting employee relations matters and workplace concerns
Assisting with performance management and employee development processes
Maintaining accurate employee records and HR documentation
Supporting HR compliance with company policies and employment regulations
Supporting workforce planning and staffing needs across active construction projects
Partnering with leadership to improve HR processes and employee experience
Supporting wider HR operations as the business and project teams continue to grow

Previous HR experience within construction, General Contracting, engineering or a similar project-based environment
Experience as an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, HR Business Partner or similar role
Strong experience across employee relations, recruiting, onboarding and HR administration
Strong understanding of HR compliance and employment practices
Experience supporting both salaried and hourly employees
Comfortable working with field teams, Superintendents, Project Managers and senior leadership
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters professionally
Ability to work full-time on site in Michigan City, Indiana
