Overview
The Deaf Services Advocate is a direct hire opportunity in Anaheim, CA, supporting a nonprofit environment dedicated to empowering d/Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, DeafDisabled, and late-deafened individuals. This role is ideal for a compassionate, resourceful, and community-focused professional who is fluent in American Sign Language and passionate about advocacy, accessibility, and independent living.
In this position, you will help consumers navigate housing, employment, benefits, healthcare, transportation, disability services, and other community resources. You will work in a mission-driven setting where teamwork, supportive leadership, community impact, and meaningful service are central to the work. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to build trusted relationships, promote self-advocacy, and help individuals achieve greater independence.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of approximately 30 active consumers while providing advocacy, case management, peer support, and independent living skills training.
Assist consumers with housing navigation, employment services, benefits coordination, Medi-Cal, transportation, healthcare access, and social service systems.
Support individuals in navigating Department of Rehabilitation, Regional Centers, CalAIM, disability services, and other community programs.
Conduct outreach, workshops, presentations, and trainings related to Deaf services, accessibility, housing, employment readiness, self-advocacy, and independent living.
Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, reporting, and compliance with HIPAA and program requirements.
Build relationships with community partners, employers, housing providers, government agencies, and service organizations to expand access to resources.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $50,000 to $52,000 per year.
