Job DescriptionMedical Laboratory Scientist 2Inova Schar Cancer Institute is looking for a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 to join their team! Committed to Team Member Health: offering medical, dental and vision coverage, and a robust team member wellness program.Retirement: Inova matches the first 5% of eligible contributions – starting on your first day.Mental Health Support: offering all Inova team members, their spouses/partners, and their children 25 mental health coaching or therapy sessions, per person, per year, at no cost.Work/Life Balance: offering paid time off, paid parental leave, flexible work schedules and more.Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 Job Responsibilities:Reviews technical activities for quality assurance per facility requirements.Participates and helps prepare Laboratory for self and onsite inspections.Follows site specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and instructions; Annually reads SOP and documents knowledge of contents.Performs required Quality Control (QC) measures, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation; Recognizes QC problems or discrepancies and attempts to determine cause of problems prior to notification. Notifies appropriate individual(s) regarding QC problems or discrepancies according to the established procedures.Acts as a resource person/key operator for coworkers, customers and patients for technical questions; Demonstrates an expanded knowledge of technical and administrative tasks beyond normal technical operations.Reports accurate results while minimizing the number of corrected reports not attributed to auto-verification or specimen conditions beyond technical control.Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Education -Bachelor's degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology preferred. Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program, NAACLS or ABHES accredited MSL program, or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the last five years can be used in lieu of one year of full time acceptable clinical experience.About UsWe are Inova, Northern Virginia's leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
