Guidehouse is looking for Litigation Paralegal to be a part of our growing litigation and investigative support practice area. Join our team supporting the Department of Justice and guide our customers through the complexities associated with data proliferation and the growing technical and legal challenges of eDiscovery.
The Litigation Paralegal provides professional, accurate, timely and reliable paralegal support reporting to and detailed to assist the litigating teams, assisting the attorneys with all phases of litigation. In particular, the Litigation Paralegal will support the missions of Employment and Civil Litigation teams and perform research, locate responsive information, identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles; review case material and identify potentially conflicting statement or areas requiring further investigation. The work products of the Litigation Paralegals are reviewed prior to submission; however, the Litigation Paralegal will develop these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines.
Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "TOP SECRET" security clearance; Candidates with an ACTIVE "TOP SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred.
GED or High School Diploma
Successful completion of a Paralegal Certificate program, or Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Legal Studies (MLS/JM), or Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies or a related field such as Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Policy, or Government.
Experience with all phases of litigation, including assisting with discovery requests and responses; drafting motions and briefs; Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS, Westlaw, and Pacer.
Experience performing Paralegal functions including moderately complex legal research; Experience assisting in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
Experience reviewing materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and preparing privilege logs.
Experience assisting the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management.
