Head of Facilities and Maintenance

Overview The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor provides supervisory level work assignments. Acts as coach, trainer, and leader building skill levels of all on crew by example and demonstration. Frequently performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on Hotel and Casino buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems. This position is a Shift Manager level position.

Responsibilities Act as a working supervisor; able to lead and coach crew by example; may perform all maintenance tasks assigned to crew, and may fill in on tasks frequently

Ensure the safety of personnel in their department and conduct regular safety meetings

Ensure safety as it relates to equipment maintenance, guarding, etc.

Comply with established best practices for the Maintenance department, and participate in hiring, training, rewarding, and coaching of the employees

Assist in coordinating efforts between the Maintenance department and other departments by building effective working relationships

Develop, schedule, and control a preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working condition

Takes corrective action as necessary to help assure departmental goals are met

Interview, hire, train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline team members; address complaints and resolve problems

Conduct regular meetings with team members; prepare weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts; adjust schedules to meet business demands

Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in maintenance electrical and mechanical operations

Inspect jobs in process and at completion to ensure standards of workmanship and safety are maintained

Ensure proper maintenance of facility machinery and building

Maintain inventories of maintenance material, supplies, and repair parts at required levels by initiating requisitions for purchase; periodically review inventory for proper upkeep

Keeps MSDS current

Participate in problem identification and quality improvement efforts

Participate in special projects, as needed

Use effective written and verbal skills to accomplish responsibilities

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications High School diploma or GED required or enrolled and must complete a GED within 6 months of start date as a condition of continued employment

Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older

One (1) year experience in the Maintenance Department or equivalent (required)

OR completed at least two (2) maintenance certificates such as refrigeration, controls, pest control licenses, NFPA96, recreational water treatment, CPO (Certified Pool Operator), CSP (Certified Service Professional)

OR obtained one (1) trades license issued by a State or similar public authority

Must have at least four (4) years of commercial property experience in maintaining or repairing buildings, systems or equipment

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and Spanish

Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license

May be responsible for furnishing own hand tools

Must have good hearing and eyesight

Must have ability to read, write, and understand English

Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required

Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Florida Statutes and remain in good standing with the Florida Gaming Control Commission as a requirement for this position

Must be willing and able to work in a smoke/secondhand smoke environment
