Planning and Estimator

We are seeking an Estimator I to support the preparation of accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for a range of projects and services. Working under the guidance of experienced estimators and project professionals, you will review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other project documentation to identify labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and associated costs. You will assist with quantity take-offs, pricing research, bid comparisons, and the preparation of estimates, proposals, and supporting documentation.

In this role, you will maintain organised records of pricing information, supplier quotations, project assumptions, and estimate revisions. You will communicate with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and obtain current pricing. You will also help identify potential risks, exclusions, inconsistencies, and opportunities for cost savings, escalating complex issues when appropriate. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential, as estimates must be prepared in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

The successful candidate will have a diploma, certificate, or equivalent education in construction, engineering, quantity surveying, business, or a related field, along with some relevant experience in estimating, project administration, procurement, or a technical environment. Familiarity with spreadsheets, estimating software, and document management systems is preferred. You should be comfortable interpreting technical information, performing basic mathematical calculations, and managing multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively are important.
