The Elementary Art Teacher fosters creativity, self-expression, and confidence in students through engaging visual arts instruction. The teacher creates a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where all students can explore artistic techniques, cultural connections, and creative problem‑solving. The Art Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers and staff to integrate the arts across the curriculum and provide meaningful learning experiences.

Plan and deliver standards-based visual arts instruction for students in grades elementary grades.

Teach a variety of artistic techniques, media, and art history concepts using accessible and resourceful materials.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students.

Collaboration & School Community

Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate art into literacy, social studies, science, and schoolwide initiatives.

Partner with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, performances, displays, and school events.

Support school culture through student showcases, bulletin boards, murals, assemblies, and community art projects.

Organize and maintain art supplies and classroom materials efficiently and creatively.

Utilize low-cost, recycled, and donated materials to support high-quality art experiences.

Follow all school procedures related to safety, supervision, and student behavior.

Assess student growth and participation through projects, portfolios, and classroom performance.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning opportunities.

Reflect on instructional practices and seek innovative approaches to arts education in an urban school setting.

Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field.

Valid state teaching certification/licensure in Art Education.

Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.

Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
