About the Position: This position is located at the Army Medical Center Madigan, WA.

Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.Joint Base Lewis-McChord, its affiliated clinics and dental clinic are located at Fort Lewis, Washington, near the city of Tacoma. Madigan AMC is one of only three designated Level Two trauma centers within the U.Medical Command.

The presence of multiple chronic processes complicates diagnosis and treatment, thus requiring the training and experience of a board certified specialist in family practice.

Serves as a Family Physician, Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Administers appropriate care and or referral of cases requiring hospitalization or subspecialty care. Vasectomy, reduction of simple fractures, Lumbar Puncture, emergency deliveries, Endometrial biopsy, joint aspiration/injection, Procto sigmoidoscopy, ECG performance and initial interpretation, interpretation of basic radiographs, insertion/removal of IUD, regional anesthesia, splinting/casting/immobilization of simple fractures, crisis intervention, and advanced cardiac life support.
May supervise medical students/externs, residents and other non-professional health care providers when needed. This responsibility includes medical records reviews, consultative services, and direct observation of provider. Documentation of non-professional health care provider's supervision will be in accordance with Army Regulation 40-48 and other applicable guidance.

Basic Requirement For Physician (Family Medicine)

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.Medical Licensing Examination. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency with your application package.)

Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.

Residency Training : Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Family Medicine) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years . Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.
