Patient Types / Common Diagnoses Cardiac PCU – Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain rule out, post cardiac catheterization (PCI or without stent), post electrophysiology procedures such as pacemaker insertion, ICD, ablation, Arrhythmia management, Vascular – Peripheral Artery Disease, AAA Repair, DVT/PE

Skills Required Cardiac rhythm interpretation
Experience with cardiac post-procedural care
Comfortable titrating drips including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilde, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerine, Sotalol, Tirofiban
Support within the Department CNA: Assists RNs by obtaining vital signs and blood glucose checks; supports hourly safety rounds and activities of daily living
Receptionist/HUC
Charge nurse: May or may not have patient assignment
Phlebotomy: Peripheral blood draws performed
No IV/VAT team
Respiratory Therapist available 24/7; assistance by page
Hospitalist available 24/7
Intensivist available 24/7
Telemetry monitoring/tech: Nurses responsible for monitoring and verifying strips once per shift
Technology / Equipment EMR: Epic
IV Pump: Alaris
Medication dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: Philips
Floating Floating available to units including 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, and 5CC West
