Fire Protection Engineering

Poole Fire Protection is looking for a creative, motivated, and team-oriented fire protection engineer interested in being a part of a fast-paced, high-energy workgroup. If multi-discipline design including fire suppression, fire detection/alarm and life safety systems, and conducting field construction inspections and acceptance testing in a client-facing environment is exciting to you, then Poole Fire Protection wants to hear from you.

Additional duties include project and client meetings and on-site work, overall management and supervision of projects, marketing to potential clients, and quality control to ensure designs are in accordance with governing industry codes and standards.

Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts. Interpret and apply NFPA Standards to the project

Compile a complete design analysis including fire hazard classifications, fuel load calculations, classification of occupancy, partition/separations requirements, means of egress provisions, hydraulic data, fire detection/alarm, mass notification, and smoke management via passive or active systems

Communicate in both a technical and non-technical manner to adequately advise architects, contractors, and project owners on fire prevention, code review, code requirements, and present the best solution for the owner that balances any risks associated with design decisions

Perform field investigations of completed design to verify accuracy of design and perform/witness acceptance testing/commissioning

Manage a project’s scope, schedule, and budget and matrix-manage team members

Experience in the fire protection industry (minimum five years preferred)

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection Engineering (preferred)

Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams

The position includes the potential for both domestic and international travel (15% to 40%). Positions are available in both Poole Fire Protection’s Olathe, Kansas (Kansas City) office as well as in our Oklahoma City, Oklahoma office.
