Howard Community College (HCC) is looking for experienced and passionate instructors to teach adaptive classes for our Inclusive Learning Programs for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We are a continuing education program that allows adults of all ages with IDD to maintain or build on their skills and knowledge in a supportive and welcoming environment. This is an on-site, part-time adjunct position.

We are currently recruiting qualified applicants with a variety of skills and proven teaching ability for the following categories of classes:

Employability Soft Skills and Job-Specific Training

Basic Financial Literacy

Computer Skills

We are in the process of expanding our programs and the number of teaching opportunities is anticipated to continue to rise. Program Website:

Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's degree

Teaching experience, including experience planning lessons and developing curriculum for whole-group instruction

Experience working with adults with IDD, or a strong desire to learn best practices for working with this population

However, HCC will generally not sponsor applicants for work visas. Due to HCC policy, only employees living in states contiguous to Maryland are eligible for work at HCC and include Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC, Pennsylvania. Candidates must live in the commutable area or willing to relocate at their own expense if offered the position because HCC does not offer relocation benefits.
