MLT - Medical Laboratory

Summary Responsible for performing automated and manual laboratory testing, specimen processing, and reporting results in accordance with established policies and procedures. Duties also include quality control and quality assurance activities, navigating multiple computer applications, maintaining laboratory equipment (troubleshooting, scheduled maintenance, cleaning), training other team members, and assisting with additional duties as assigned.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities Perform laboratory testing using automated and manual methods per guidelines.

Conduct quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing.

Record lab results in the electronic laboratory information system.

Prepare specimens for transport and process lab samples.

Operate and maintain equipment such as centrifuges, dry baths, refrigerators, and freezers.

Execute scheduled maintenance, clean equipment and work surfaces, and keep laboratory logs.

Stock and order laboratory supplies.

Education, Certifications & Licenses Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.

State of Florida Medical Laboratory Technician license required.

National Laboratory Certification required.

Experience Minimum of one (1) year in a clinical laboratory setting.

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Execute proper quality control procedures before patient testing.

Maintain comprehensive documentation (test reports, quality control logs, QA forms, equipment records, training checklists).

Track laboratory supplies inventory and place orders per procurement cycles.

Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain lab cleanliness.

Follow all federal, state, and company policies, including IT and disaster recovery plans.

Maintain Florida MLT license, national certification, and required CEUs.

Provide training to new employees on job duties.

Be willing to work at any FCS location and provide overtime work with notice.
