Registered Nurse - Hematology/Oncology Service

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. The RN evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. The Medical Surgical unit, also known as Med-Surg, is a specialty unit that makes up the foundation of nursing. The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Rogers is a 48-bed unit that manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, this unit houses and cares for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. This can include care of patients with illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis; as well as pre and post op management of pain, wound care, and monitoring for any complications post procedure. The Med-Surg unit also manages chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and chronic kidney disease. Service lines include oncology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, and many more. Given the generalized nature of the Med-Surg unit and the amount of variation in patient conditions, the acuity of patients vary.

Graduated from a school of nursing (associate's degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.

ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

CPHON (Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurses)

OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)

Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules

Other unit-specific certifications as required

Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
