Cost Accountant
Overview: Seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support financial operations, job cost accounting, and reporting within a growing construction/homebuilding environment. Reporting to the VP of Finance/Controller, this role will maintain accurate project cost records, assist with month-end close activities, support budgeting and forecasting efforts, and partner with construction and purchasing teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build expertise in construction or real estate accounting.
Maintain and reconcile job cost records for active projects. Assist with month-end close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Prepare job cost reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and financial reporting support. Track committed costs, budget variances, and subcontractor/vendor accounts. Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis. Ensure organized, audit-ready documentation and compliance with internal controls. Assist with process improvements and special finance projects.
