Job Title: Medical Lab Technician II (Blood Bank)

Duration: 3+ Months

Location: 750 Morphy Ave Fairhope, AL

Shift:

Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Rotating weekends required

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Perform testing in the Blood Bank department according to established laboratory procedures.

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established criteria.

Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure proper functionality.

Make technical decisions related to testing and resolve technical issues as needed.

Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and quality control materials.

Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.

Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

Maintain adequate testing supplies and replenish inventory as needed.

Assist with specimen processing when required.

Follow all laboratory safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology , or meet applicable CLIA and state regulatory requirements .
• 2-4 years of recent clinical laboratory testing experience (Blood Bank experience preferred).
• State Medical Technician license may be required depending on state regulations.
• ASCP or AMT certification is preferred or required (based on client requirement).
• Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with computers; experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision test .
• Flexible to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
