Travel RN – Stepdown / Med-Surg
Location: West Virginia

Unit: Stepdown & Med-Surg
⏰ Weekly Hours: 36 hours/week

Shifts: Days or Nights
Days: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
Nights: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
Weekend: Every other weekend

Holiday: Travelers may be required to work holidays

Scrubs: Royal Blue
Unit Details

• 31 beds across two units on the same floor
• Stepdown ratio: 1:3
• Floor ratio: 1:5–6

~ Patient population includes:

• Med-Surg
• Cardiac

~ IDDM

~ COPD

• Trauma
• Orthopedics

~ ENT

• Urology
• Pain management
• Telemetry with dedicated monitor technicians
• RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• RT available 24/7
• No ventilators on the unit
• Charge Nurse on every shift
• House Supervisor in-house 24/7
• 3–4 nurse aides support the 31-bed unit

Required Skills & Certifications
BLS required
ACLS required
Stepdown/Med-Surg experience
Ability to titrate drips in Stepdown
Ability to manage Heparin drips on the floor
Strong telemetry interpretation skills
Submission Requirements
Only 1 position may be submitted for a candidate across the entire WVU system at a time
Candidate's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
Unexpired driver's license must be included with every submission
Maximum 2 candidates per opening
Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
Unit-specific requirements listed in Pulse must be followed
Return Staff Policy
Former permanent employees must be separated for 2 years before returning as a traveler
Former travelers who completed 1 full year must be separated for 2 years
If the submission limit is reached, additional candidates will be held until another submission slot becomes available
⭐ Best suited for a strong Stepdown/PCU or Med-Surg RN with telemetry, cardiac, and drip-titration experience.
