Starting Wage: $16.50 Per Hour

Note: May not be re‑hired in any hourly, non‑contract position in the district without a 6‑month break in service. Employees returning to this position may be eligible for a $0.50 pay increase up to Grounds Crew level V of $18.00 per hour.

The Seasonal Grounds Worker maintains healthy and attractive grounds areas, protects against erosion, maintains grounds for assemblies and recreational activities (e.g., track, football, graduation, etc.), All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Speak, read, write, analyze, understand, follow, and interpret written and verbal communications in English

Experience operating landscaping and grounds equipment (mowers, trimmers, hand tools, power tools, etc.)

Work outside in temperatures that may become extreme for the duration of the work shift, maintaining landscaping and athletic fields (e.g., mow, trim, prune, weed control, fertilize, drainage, seeding, etc.) Monitor landscaped areas, equipment, sprinkler systems, and grounds (fields, parking areas, etc.) Under limited supervision, operate grounds equipment (mowers, trimmers, hand tools, power tools, etc.) to ensure that the care and extermination of specific types is appropriately enforced, including using appropriate herbicide calibration and application.

Transport various items (tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) to ensure the availability of materials at job sites.

Respond to emergency situations (on‑call duties, snow removal, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and support other emergency response crews.

Safely perform physical labor, including rolling, pushing, pulling, carrying, bending, reaching, stooping, walking, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and 75 pounds occasionally.

Flexibility to perform different tasks and assignments on a continual rotation.

Adhere to all district and safety practices, procedures, and policies.

Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees, students, and stakeholders.

Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position.

Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

The job is performed outdoors under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and illness.
