Position OverviewPosition OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) Chenango Memorial Hospital is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated LPN/OR Tech to join our dynamic surgical team. In this vital role, you will play a crucial part in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care within our fast-paced operating room environment.As an LPN/OR Surg Tech, you will be responsible for preparing operating rooms, meticulously ensuring all surgical instruments are sterile and readily available, and providing essential assistance to surgeons and nurses throughout various procedures. Your contributions directly support optimal patient outcomes and the smooth operation of the surgical suite.Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique, maintains asepsis, anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety. Primary Department, Division, or Unit:Operating Room, UHS Chenango Memorial HospitalPrimary Work Shift:DayCompensation Range:$25.12 - $35.87 per hour, depending on experienceYou will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.-Sign-on Incentive:Experienced candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $7,500.Work Schedule:40 hour work week10 hour work daysOn-call shifts to provide 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidaysEducation/ExperienceMinimum Required:Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing.Preferred:Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting.License/CertificationMinimum Required:Current New York State Practical Nurse License.Follows Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique.Assists the surgeon when needed gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and other related items during the procedure. Anticipates the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment.Maintains an organized operative field at all times by keeping the instruments clean and in their proper place.Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment in accordance with preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems. Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient, identifying potential hazards to the surgeon, RN and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment.Displays knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gases) within the Operating Room.Assists in suturing, retracting, suctioning under direction of the surgeon.Handles and identifies specimens per policy.Why You’ll Love Working at UHSAt United Health Services (UHS), we believe every connection—to patients, to purpose, to each other—makes a difference.
