Maintenance Custodian - Part Time / Full Time

Custodian IIThe Del Norte County Building Maintenance Department is seeking a qualified candidate to fill one (1) vacancy for the position of Custodian II. This position is classified as full-time. To maintain the County's public buildings and facilities in a clean and orderly condition by performing a full range of janitorial/custodial duties, including but not limited to sweeping, stripping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, and washing of floors, operating janitorial equipment. This work consists of routine manual labor at an entry-level classification. Employees in this classification receive direct supervision within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures.Maintains the County's public buildings and facilities in a clean and orderly condition.Scours disinfects all surfaces and restocks restroom materials.Dusts and waxes fixtures and furniture.Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and/or buffs floors.Washes walls and windows as needed.Replenishes work materials and supplies as needed.Maintains and stores tools and equipment used in daily operation in an orderly manner.Cleans up after public meetings and secures building.Changes light bulbs, temporarily repairs restroom facilities such as toilets, faucets, etc. Secures doors, windows and grounds.Monitors building for damage, wear and tear, and/or vandalism, and reports to building maintenance.Sufficient formal and/or informal education at a level necessary for successful performance of duties, supplemented with one (1) year work experience as a Custodian or equivalent position.Requires:Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in janitorial work.Knowledge of uses and operation of basic hand and power tools.Knowledge of ground maintenance, basic equipment and techniques.Knowledge of basic construction and maintenance methods and equipment.Ability to read and write at a level required for successful job performance and some full time work experience.Ability to use a variety of custodial equipment and materials as well as operate and maintain a variety of maintenance tools and equipment.The County of Del Norte does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, religion, gender, age, sexual preference, or disability in any of its programs, activities, or hiring practices.
