Cost Estimator - Aerospace & Defense

Position Overview This role supports financial management for aerospace and defense projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, budgeting, and reporting.

What You Will Do Extract and reconcile accounting data, including labor and cost transfer submittals.

Monitor costs and personnel charges to keep actuals within budget.

Support supply‑chain financial controls for subcontracts and material procurement forecasting.

Prepare time‑phased budgeting, cost control and variance analysis; provide internal and external reports.

Generate risk and opportunity management information.

Support finance management with pre‑close and month‑end forecast updates and maintain risk and opportunity portfolios.

Develop quarterly EACs (Estimate at Completion) and monthly Latest Revised Estimate (LRE) data.

Assist Program Management in creating financial program management review slides.

Analyze the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Forecast, and short/long‑range outlooks.

Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and perform other project setup tasks.

Prepare Work Authorization Documents and fulfill additional ad‑hoc requests.

Qualifications You Must Have Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of financial principles, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with SAP, APEX, BW, PRISM, RPlan and/or Analysis for Excel.

Financial experience within the aerospace or defense industry.

Proficiency in Earned Value Management (EVM) and/or Estimate at Completion (EAC).

Experience developing monthly financial Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs).

Experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).

In‑depth understanding of the color‑of‑money policy and accounting principles.

Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.

Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and strategic thinking.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Broad understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

What We Offer Annual salary range of $68,900 – $131,100 USD, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
