Job Summary To conduct new and ongoing research on tuberculosis and HIV.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Performing immunological, biochemical and infection studies in primary immune cells and cell lines
Lab management (order reagents and supplies) and support research activities
Train and other members of the laboratory
Required Qualifications Critical thinking
Ability to conduct tissue culture work, biochemical, microbiological and immunological assays
Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working inside the BSL facility is desirable
Key Responsibilities Perform immunological, biochemical and infection studies in primary immune cells and cell lines
Contribute towards developing standard operating protocols, and draft manuscripts and reviews
Lab management (order reagents and supplies) and support research activities
Train and assist other members of the laboratory such as graduate students belonging to the MSMS, MSBS and DO program

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hand and arms, climb and stoop. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required include close and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to monitor computer screens and instruments. The duties may require handling laboratory objects, equipment and animals (if applicable).
Describe Work Environment Duties are routinely performed in a typical laboratory setting. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extremes of temperature, risk of electric shock, wet humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and high precarious places. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat, and risk of radiation. Noise level may be loud due to ventilation systems.
