Human Resource Generalist – Carson, CA
Position at Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) manufacturing facility in Carson, CA.
Employee Relations
Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, complaints and workplace issues
Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into employee relations matters
Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and employment laws
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of employee relation cases.
Support conflict resolution and mediation efforts, particularly in fast paced, high volume hourly environments
General HR Responsibilities
Supports all aspects of internal and external recruitment and selection processes for hourly positions. Completes all new hire documents and data input
Conduct phone, virtual and/or in person interviews
Stay up to date with current recruiting methods
Coordinates, updates and delivers the new hire orientation program
Processes employee status changes such as promotions, salary adjustments, new hires and terminations. Knowledgeable in all areas of Human Resources, employment, employee policies and procedures, employee records, leave of absences, benefits, compensation, and employee relations
Advises Managers, Supervisors and leads of policies and procedures, various state and federal regulations, salary-related issues and effective human resources practices in regard to employee issues
Other duties as assigned by Manager of Human Resources
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience, with exposure to employee relations
Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.Citizen, U.Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Prefer the bachelor’s degree is in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field required
5 years of Human Resources experience
HR Certification (SHRM-CP, PHR)
Experience in an engineering, production and/or manufacturing environment supporting an exempt and hourly workforce
Familiarity with human resources information systems and applications and demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs
HR experience at a large global corporation that includes partnering with an HR Shared Services function
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel
Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems
Must be able to work on site full time in Carson, California. Remote work not considered.
