Description:
The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person.
The focus is on creating a caring environment aimed at healing and wellness.

Clinical decision-making incorporates the four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity.

This role includes coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities.
Responsibilities include performing assessments and treatments, facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities.
The RN provides patient- and family-centered education, care coordination, and individualized treatment planning.
Key responsibilities include:

• Performing and documenting comprehensive patient assessments in accordance with scope of practice and policies.
• Considering the patient’s culture, age, and developmental level.
• Identifying patient risk factors and collecting health information as necessary.
• Developing a problem list and prioritizing patient needs based on input from the inter-professional team.
• Designing actions and interventions relevant to the patient’s culture and age.
• Determining desired outcomes in coordination with the patient and family in line with the medical plan of care.
• Implementing patient care therapies and procedures within established policies and procedures.
• Explaining procedures, treatments, and processes to patients and families.
• Initiating actions to alleviate patient stress and discomfort.
• Recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition.
• Conducting ongoing assessment and documentation of patient responses.
• Delegating tasks appropriately and overseeing team members’ performance.
• Monitoring the accuracy and completeness of patient care provided by other team members.
• Addressing the educational needs of patients related to prioritized issues.
• Facilitating the patient discharge process and ensuring timely execution of discharge orders.
• Providing input into patient/nurse assignments considering staffing and patient acuity.
• Participating actively in unit-based activities that support organizational values and priorities.
• Promoting a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions.
• Ensuring nursing excellence in accordance with accepted standards and evidence-based practices.
• Engaging in department and unit quality improvement activities, such as monitoring patient satisfaction and safety measures.
