Medical Receptionist
The Southern Seminary Campus Clinic is seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist who will support the Clinic Director and the medical staff. This position will involve managing the front desk, greeting and scheduling patients in our electronic record system, maintaining our financial records, and general office organization.
The employee in this position will have the following essential functions:
Primary point person who answers the phones, directs calls to the appropriate staff, and provides information about the clinic. Calls requesting appointments will be handled by the full-time medical receptionist and part-time medical receptionists. Will be trained and needs to have a thorough understanding of the clinic's Electronic Medical Records and how to appropriately schedule patients for the proper time and with the proper provider.
Greets patients and family members and makes sure that all the appropriate paperwork has been filled out and is in place. Assists the medical staff in making sure that the clinic is running on a proper schedule.
Maintains clinic medical records for patients with use of the campus clinic's electronic medical record. Has a thorough knowledge of how to scan, upload, and fax all paperwork so as to keep the records updated.
Needs to be able to quickly learn the art of scheduling a patient with the appropriate provider for the appropriate type of visit. Will need to be able to discern with the help of the nursing/medical staff the appropriateness of the visit, type of visit, and who best to schedule the patient with.
Assists the Clinic Director in maintaining all the bills and expenses of the clinic. Pays bills with the clinic P-Card and writes check requests when needed.
Assists the Clinic Director and medical staff in keeping office supplies and medical and laboratory supplies up to date.
As time allows, submits prior authorizations for insurance purposes and provides follow up calls to patients as directed by the Clinic Director.
Assists other office staff: medical receptionists, providers, nursing staff, and clinic director as needed to allow a smooth day to day operation of the clinic.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
The person in this position should have a bachelor's degree.
The person in this position needs to have experience with computers and computer programs as well as administrative experience, preferably in a medical setting.
The person in this position will supervise other medical receptionists.
The person in this position will report to the Clinic Director.
The person in this position will work in a medical office environment.
The person in this position will use the following equipment: Computer, Microsoft Office, Word, Athena EHR, Google Sheets.
