Hourly Paralegal

Job Duties:

Under close supervision, and following well defined standard operating procedures and guidelines, performs the following duties"

Aids multiple Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA).

Examining, preparing and processing a variety of legal documents, e.g., orders, arrest warrants, criminal cover sheets, and subpoenas.

Compile documents in preparation for hearings and trial.

Create case fact timelines.

Open, manage, and close cases through various government computer systems.

Maintaining calendar of assigned active cases.

File documents with the court using online ECF filing systems.

Interact with the victim assistance specialist unit regarding case management.

Interact with opposing counsel, case agents, and other federal agencies.

Required:

Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Requires paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.?

One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate. ?

Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required; trial experience very helpful.

Automated litigation support experience valued.

Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.

Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.

Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.

*Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies are used to offset the employer's cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes. Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions would be cashed out to the employee on a 1 pay period lag.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

$25.58
