RN Weekend Night Day Shift

RN-Registered Nurse — Med Surg Onsite Contract (Start 6/29/2026, 16 weeks)

Duration: 16 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (Day Shift)
Experience: Minimum 1 year MedSurg
First-Time Travelers: Yes, accepted
Facility Type: 167-Bed Hospital | Level II Trauma Center | Level III NICU & Maternity | Primary Stroke Center
Unit Capacity: 16 beds (Avg daily census: 16)
Patient Ratios: Days 1:4, Nights 1:5-1:6
Department Support: CNA (1:6 Days | 1:8 Nights), Charge RN (takes assignment), 24/7 availability (Hospitalist, Respiratory Therapy, SWAT RN), Specialty Teams (Phlebotomy, IV/Vascular Access, Telemetry)
Clinical Requirements & Skills Required Certifications: BLS
Technology: EPIC EMR (experience required), Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis Medication Dispensing
Core Skills: Foley insertion/care, peripheral IVs, bladder scans, NG tubes, chest tubes, tracheostomies, wound care, central line/PICC/midline management, port access
Drips: Heparin and Insulin (no insulin drip experience required)
Cardiac: Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms (strip check-off required)
Common Patient Diagnoses: CHF, COPD, respiratory failure, pneumonia, cellulitis, DVT, AKI, CKD, wounds, altered mental status, suicide precautions; surgical: gallbladders, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, TURPs
Floating & Orientation Floating Policy: Travelers float first; float within scope (Observation, MedSurg 1)
Orientation: New Employee Orientation (NEO) + 1 shift on unit + brief orientation to float areas
Scheduling & Logistics Schedule Cycle: 6-week increments, released 2 weeks in advance
Weekend Rotation: Every 3rd weekend
On-Call: None
Holidays: 1 summer & 1 winter holiday
Requested Time Off: Up to 7 days approved
Block Scheduling: Requestable, not guaranteed
Dress Code: Solid professional scrub color; no graphics, logos, designs
