Travel Nursing Job Details
Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)

Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370

Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week

Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. – Approximately 2 patients per nurse

Unit: 10-bed Labor & Delivery unit with fluctuating census

Weekend Coverage: Variable, with some holiday coverage expected

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
Active Registered Nurse license in Texas; At least 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience

Previous charge nurse experience required

Labor & Delivery experience with neonatal, infant, and adult patient populations

Experience with Cerner electronic health records preferred

Strong clinical judgment and the ability to provide safe, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Labor & Delivery Nursing Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout triage, antepartum, labor, delivery, and immediate newborn transition

Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and other assessment tools

Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage, shock, and other high-risk conditions

Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, forceps or vacuum-assisted deliveries, and newborn stabilization

Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, antihypertensives, terbutaline, epidural anesthesia, and blood products

Perform or assist with sterile vaginal examinations, IUPC placement and calibration, IV starts, Foley catheter management, and other L&D procedures

Deliver patient education, pain management, postpartum hemorrhage monitoring, and compassionate support to patients and families

Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team while maintaining accurate clinical documentation

Float to antepartum as needed and contribute to safe, efficient unit operations
